In-transit visas for J’cans

The British Home Office has announced that any Jamaican passing through the United Kingdom on route to another country will now be required to obtain a visa.

It is believed the requirement was needed because some people have slipped into the country illegally while in transit.

The move is another measure by Britain to toughen its immigration policy and secure its borders.

The new regulation will come into effect in March.

The measure will result in Jamaica joining five other countries that have been denied a visa waiver clearance.

No for connecting flights, say you're going to Nigeria from Jamaica? Via London Gatwick.

You would require a visa just to transfer to your connecting flight at Gatwick.
